Huntington Park Off-Leash Dog Park

The 27-acre park includes a baseball diamond, two soccer fields, a playground, pathways, naturalized areas, and a leash-free dog park. The leash-free area is located at the north end of the park, east of Lambert Road near Highway 407. It features a double-gated entrance that leads to a large open space for your dog to mingle with other canines. The dog park also provides picnic tables, chairs and water bowls. If you’re looking for more adventure, there’s a long trail through the thick-wooded area that features a river. A beautiful setting for you and your pup to enjoy a hike together. Miller Avenue Dog Park

If you’re looking for a place to exercise and socialize your dog within the community, Miller Avenue Dog Park is a great option. The park is located at the northwest corner of Miller Avenue and Rodick Road. The leash-free area has two fully fenced sections with separate entrances, one for all dogs and the other for smaller dogs. There are benches, two wood canopy structures, bag dispensers, a kiddie pool, and fresh water to quench your dog’s thirst. The ground is mostly made up of wood chips and grass, which is ideal for wet muddy days. The park also features an elaborate agility course with tunnels, ramps, and jumps - a unique feature for dogs to practice their skills while getting their exercise. A visit to this park is sure to result in a very tired but happy pooch. 

Milne Dam Conservation Park

Milne Dam Conservation Park is the largest park in the City of Markham located on Milne Reservoir. The park was named after Peter and Alexander Milne, who built a dam and a mill on the Rouge River in the 1820’s. The park boasts 305 acres of lush forests, open fields, trails, and the beautiful Rouge River. Although this park is not an official leash-free zone, it’s a fantastic place to exercise your dog in a picturesque setting. The park offers 2.3 kilometers of trails suitable for jogging, cycling, and walking your dog. The park is also well used for large picnics, bird watching, and fishing in the river. Some of the migratory birds that have passed through include blue jays, woodpeckers, blue herons, chickadees, and orioles.  

The park is located east of McCowan Road, just south of Highway 7. Admission to the park is free Monday through Friday; however, you may be required to pay a fee on weekends and statutory holidays. Bring your canine friend and enjoy a long hike with breathtaking scenery along the Rouge River.
