Created at the request of local residents these parks provide a place where one can enjoy the community and their dogs. The park features a playground, community garden, as well as a tennis court and basketball court, which double as a skating rink in the winter. There are also garbage bins and dog-waste bags available for use. This sweet and simple community space is the perfect place for a fun afternoon with your dog. 


Kiwanis Dog Park

The leash-free dog park is located 1 kilometre from the famous lake-like swimming pool and is secured by chain link fencing. There are two designated leash-free areas next to each other based on your dog’s size. One for larger dogs and the other for the little ones under 25 lbs. The dog park is accessible by path and is about a 20-minute walk from the parking lot. If you and your pup prefer a more scenic experience the park provides easy access to the extensive Walter Bean Trail and Grand River, which is also a great spot to hike, bike, canoe, and fish. Other amenities in the park include sports fields, volleyball courts, and a playground. Kiwanis Park is free to enter; however, there are fees to access the outdoor swimming pool, change rooms, showers, picnic tables, and snack bar. Kiwanis Park has everything you need to get active and enjoy the great outdoors. 


McLennan Dog Park

The leash-free zone is medium in size and fenced off and gated for your dog’s safety. There are a few benches where you can sit and relax while your dog plays. The East Ward micro dog park is the second of its kind in Kitchener. The park is located next to the skatepark along Sterling Avenue, at the back of the Auditorium parking lot. Just shy of an acre in size the park provides a fenced open space for your dog to roam freely off leash. As this is a community-led pilot project, city staff and residents meet regularly to discuss updates and address any concerns regarding the park. Since this is a community space, it is encouraged that all who utilize this park take the initiative to keep it clean and safe. In addition to the dog park, the Auditorium is a multi-use facility that offers a variety of services and events. This park serves as the perfect place for residents to socialize and exercise their dogs within the community.
